On a quest for a new digital camera with good quality video. Not looking for anything professional or super high-end. This is for everyday use, but the vid quality should be decent enough for blogging.
Any recommendations?
I find that the tumblr community and many of my fellow bloggers are pretty tech-savvy, so I thought I’d give it a shot. Would love to hear your input on this. Thanx in advance!

Currently own one of the very first Canon Elphs and I love it, but I really need a new camera. It only lets me video record for about a minute at a time, so it’s definitely time to upgrade.

[edit: Thanx to all for your feedback on this. I’m most inclined to stick with Canon, given my previous experience, but also because awesome Toronto photographer Chris Frampton suggested this Canon model — and he definitely knows what he’s talking about!]

And this is why Tumblr rawks...

Just 5 hrs after sending an e.mail to Tumblr’s support team re: my last post, I already have my answer: Photo posts are limited to one uploaded image. I’ll just need to go the Flickr/url route if I wish to include multiple pix within the same post, for now.

Marc at Tumblr Support was kind enough to forward my feedback on this subject to their development team. It’s not the first time that I’ve been floored by the prompt, helpful and friendly responses that I’ve received from the Tumblr crew. They are all kinds of awesome. I have yet to experience this with any of the other on-line services that I use. Makes me even happier to be tumblin’ again!

::Question for my fellow tumblr peeps::
As I gear up for the return of posts on GDG, I’m tweaking a few layout details and I’m trying to resolve an issue that I’ve always had with photo posts.
When you’re posting a photo and choose the option to upload an image [rather than use its url], is it possible to upload another one — or several, for that matter — using the uploading method again within the same post?
I know that I can add more pix within the body of the post [where the text would usually go], but I’m only seeing the option to upload further pix using the url of each image. In my case, this means having to upload a whopping load of product images to Flickr before being able to post anything, as I’ll require a url for each photo that I wish to use.
Is this making sense?
For example, the question mark image that you see above was uploaded using the “post photo” tool on tumblr. However, in order to add the second image below, I had to use the “insert/edit image” tool and provide a url to add the image to the body of this post. I wasn’t able to just upload it directly like the first.

I’ve had this issue since the beginning of this site, which is why my pix are always posted individually… but this is no longer feasible, since there are several kind bloggers and other sites that have been linking to my articles. I need to find a way to post all pix for a related product within the same article and not have them all split up. Apart from having my posts look better and more complete, it would also save me a ton of time, which is definitely at a premium for me these days!
So maybe I’m missing something within the tumblr platform…? I’d love to have some feedback from my fellow tumblrs. Please feel free to re.blog or drop me a line at greendesigngirl [at] gmail.com Thanx in advance!

We interrupt this brief hiatus to bring you the most gorgeous bouquet of peonies and fresh cut flowers I’ve seen in a long time. They made me a happy birthday girl indeed and have inspired me for the entire week. There are three huge peonies in the midst of these incredible beauties. Peonies = Love :-)

::Brief Hiatus::

It seems that as the weather gets sticky, so does my schedule. I’m definitely not complaining, as I’ve been looking forward to this Summer of overdosing on a variety of design projects — from TV and print, to interior projects and hours of green design research.

2008 has been my busiest year so far. So of course, it was also the year I chose to start this beloved tumblr of mine. Green Design Girl is essentially a fun and worthwhile hobby for me, but it sadly suffers when I’m up to my eyeballs in off-line green design projects.

So for the next few weeks, while I’m racking up 75hr work weeks of design at a time, and many of you will be tumblin’ along and enjoying the sun [hopefully more of the latter], I’m giving GDG a short rest. It’s either that or teach my Gemini twin how to blog while I sleep. Which could actually be an interesting show to pitch to Discovery…

Given the great products I’ve come across over the last few weeks, along with the hot tips I’ve received via e.mail, I’ll be raring to go when I’m back.

In the mean time, if you’re looking for your green design fix, be sure to browse the 300+ posts in the GDG Article Index.
