Blackberry Container with Preserved Grass by Westplant Green Facility
With Spring now officially sprung, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to post a marathon of images featuring some gorgeous plants, flowers, decorative woods and their exquisitely crafted planters, courtesy of the Dutch folks at Westplant Green Facility.
I first heard about Westplant a few weeks ago, when they made their Canadian debut at the Toronto Interior Design Show. They’ve now opened their first North American showroom in the Toronto area and I’m looking forward to checking out all of these green beauties and their sculptural accessories in person [as part of my quest to earn, at minimum, a lime shade of green thumb this year]. I’m looking for inspiration and after seeing the Westplant catalogue, I have no doubt that I will find it at their new location.
Westplant’s parent company was founded in 1975 as a hydroculture nursery and they have since grown to be one of the largest and most innovative suppliers of greens on the planet. Their specialty is interior landscaping and they design, provide, install and maintain interior plants for a wide variety of environments.
Westplant’s founder, Jaaco Van Delden, is also involved in studies on the positive effects of greenery in the work environment. They have some interesting stats on their site from a Japanese study here.
I’m not surprised to have fallen head over heels for their cool modern planters, as I have always had an affinity for product design from The Netherlands [Droog Design + Moooi are examples]. I love the range of styles, fresh colours, materials and finishes [from sleek to organic] in Westplant’s vast and unique collection.
