Kyoto, Japan
Wow. I highly recommend viewing the full screen high-resolution version of this. Check out Phillipe’s site and click on vegetal. It is unbelievable. He’s now Calgary-based, but was raised in France and Africa and according to his bio, has been around the world, capturing the most amazing visuals. He seems to specialize in digital work and has an interest in motion time lapses. I’m guessing he’d love this time lapse video of Japan. Visit Phlippe’s flickr stream for more.

“In the first jungle home, Saxe’s mom placed her bed so that she could see the moon as she fell asleep. So in the new home, Saxe made sure his new design retained that aspect.” [via Son Builds His Mother a Quaint Bamboo Retreat].
Ahh, sí. For the love of Mom, bamboo + green design. Check out more pix of this Costa Rican eco-beauty aquí.
I just came across the lovely creations of Decoy Lab on Etsy. Most of their clocks and home accessories seem to be laser cut, using the ever sustainable bamboo. The owl and nature trends are bigger than ever this year — in everything from jewellery and fashion to wallpaper and home décor accessories.

I am even more smitten with the delicate Kirie Bamboo Clock, named after the Japanese word for ”paper cutting”, from which the artist has drawn inspiration.
I could spend hours on Etsy. They have so many talented artists and unique designs on the site, just waiting to be discovered.
“The bike is made from metal components that are interconnected by bamboo… when properly prepared, bamboo is stronger than steel, with a wonderful natural radiance.”
How awesome is this? If I was in the market for a new bike right now, the Biolove would be a serious contender.

A GROWERS GUIDE
A reference for growers, this graphic systematically describes several hundred species of Bamboo.
Each species is quantified according to: Growth Style/Required Sun Exposure/Temperature Resistance/Maximum Diameter.
As a lover of all things bamboo, I am having a total nerd fest with this guide! For more bamboo love, check out these tagged pages on GDG, featuring modern designs made from this super sustainable plant.

The solid and clean-lined Vigna Chair can fit into a variety of design schemes and is responsibly made using one of Green Design Girl’s favourite renewable sources, bamboo. It’s also available in Caramel and Obsidian finishes [the latter is shown above].
The gorgeously crafted Vigna Table is also made from bamboo and is one of those timeless pieces that could probably last you a lifetime. This table obviously partners seamlessly with the Vigna Chair, but I could also see it working perfectly with a wide variety of chair styles.
