Kirei:Mod Coffee Table by Iannone Design.
Green Design Girl first featured Iannone Design back in January of 2008, when their eco.chic Graphic Armoire and Signature 2.0 Console caught my eye.
Also bearing a clean-lined modern aesthetic, the striking Kirei:Mod Coffee Table is similarly constructed using the eco.smart kirei, which is made from reclaimed stalks of the renewable sorghum plant by bonding them together with a non-toxic adhesive. The interior structure of the coffee table is made from FSC-certified plywood, cut from normally discarded scraps. Its retro shaped legs are made from stainless steel and can be seen in a profile diagram here.
The Kirei:Mod is one of those pieces that inspires me because it proves that green design can be sleek, modern and drop dead gorgeous — and fortunately, we’re seeing more of it today.

A close up of the enviro-friendly kirei, used in the construction of the Kirei:Mod Coffee Table by Iannone Design.
The contrast of the organic kirei material against the sleek white acrylic cladding satisfies the current “modern organic” trend in interior design.

Signature 1.0 Cabinet by James Sanderson @ Iannone Design.
The Signature 1.0 Cabinet is constructed using formaldehyde-free bamboo and FSC-certified birch plywood. Its soft-closing solid doors are made from ash wood, which is also selected from managed forests. The cabinet features two adjustable shelves and stainless steel hardware and it’s all finished off with a combination of water based shellac and low VOC water based topcoats.

Graphic Armoire by Iannone Design @ Vivavi.
I love the bold and feminine overlay on this sleek piece by Iannone Design. More so, I love the fact that the doors are made with kirei, an “engineered panel product constructed from the stalks of the Sorghum plant”, which is grown around the world for food. After the harvest, they take the leftover stalks and heat-press them together using non-toxic adhesives.
Earning the piece more eco.points, the cabinet is made with sustainable birch plywood and the glossy white laminate is tox-free. Healthy, functional and sophisticated. What’s not to love?

Signature 2.0 Console [Dandelion] by Iannone Design @ Vivavi.
Another great eco.mod piece using sustainable birch and kirei. I love the way it pops against the rich brick wall.
